Millbrook
The project was conceived by the desire of the clients to create and construct a traditional residential property within the semi rural locality in or around the village of Elswick where they had lived for 36 years.
An opportunity arose to purchase a well established cattery on a single track lane within the countryside area adjacent to the village. The location was not within the village settlement boundary and was on a substandard access lane serving just 4 long established properties. Considerable negotiation was therefore required with the planning authorities to overcome policy issues as this development was entirely against the current planning policies.
The self build property needed to have a traditional design but encompassing modern construction methods. After discussion with the client there was a desire to use an ICF structure with a facade of traditional brickwork along with other current above standards insulation methods .
The project is now completed successfully and is fully satisfying the needs and desires of the clients.
